Our Aim: To lead a change in attitudes around periods and to provide access to accurate knowledge so that people are empowered to make informed choices about managing menstruation and sustainable life choices.

Do you work with young people?

Not sure how to broach the topic of periods with them?

Do they struggle emotionally or financially each month to manage their periods?

Over the last four years we have created and run many bespoke training courses for people of all ages and genders in Bristol and around the UK, including a number of workshops with young people.

We know periods aren't always a topic we want to talk about - instead, they are often hidden away, ignored or laughed at. Because of this, pur educational workshops aim to address the topic of menstruation in a fun, no-nonsense, engaging way that builds confidence and gets young people thinking from a different perspective.

The aims of our workshops were to:
● Empower young people to understand how periods socially impact themselves and others
● Develop self-esteem as well as problem solving, team working and communication skills whilst focusing on the issues surrounding periods
● Help young people understand who they can turn to for support in managing their menstrual health

In the educational workshops, we discussed barriers to healthy, dignified menstruation for young people and provided information on reusable sanitary products, an option which can help save thousands of pounds over a lifetime.
Young people have told us that current education on periods isn’t enough: they want more on the social impacts, less on the science and more on what will actually happen to them. Being well educated about periods is the first step to breaking down the taboos surrounding them. We believe in young people and that they have the power to make a change.

What have the young people got out of the workshops?
The confidence to freely talk about periods and an understanding that they are a normal, healthy part of life for everyone
● Accurate knowledge to manage their periods and understand the choices they have when deciding on menstrual products
● Empathy skills relating to different situations around the world, as well as problem solving skills for real life issues
● The empowerment to challenge the status-quo and make their own sustainable life choices
At the moment, we are taking a break from running our educational workshops in order to properly evaluate the impact we’ve had so far and to continually improve our model of delivery. If you are interested in our educational workshops and would like to have us come into your school or organisation, please email chloe@nomoretaboo.org in order to register your interest. We look forward to working with you in the future!
