“Having your period is the worst time for a woman to be homeless. It just gives you that extra blow” – Interview Participant, Bristol, 2016
Imagine getting your period when you are homeless, or that you don’t have the money to buy yourself a pack of sanitary towels. How would you cope?
We’re giving you the opportunity to buy a ‘Period Poverty Package’ as a gift for yourself or a friend. Providing the recipient with the pride of supporting someone living in poverty in Bristol to have a happier period.
What your £10 ‘Period Poverty Package’ Provides:
-A place on a confidence building workshop for someone living in poverty
-Access to a one-to-one period clinic to discuss their menstrual needs in confidence
-A warm comfortable, open forum for recipients to discuss their needs and receive their period package which includes: tea, chocolate, soap and toiletries and a reusable sanitary product (if they want to use one)
What your recipient receives:
-A handwritten, no more taboo ‘Period Poverty Package’ Greetings card, explaining what the virtual gift provides.
-A feeling of joy at helping someone else have a safer, happier more affordable period.
*Please note your gift will form part of our “Tackling Period Poverty in the South West” project budget and therefore will help to provide the above to vulnerable and homeless women, however it may not be possible to specify exactly which aspect your gift has been spent on.
