Advisory Board

We are currently working to recruit our Advisory Board. We are looking for a team of experts with knowledge in:

  • Fundraising
  • Campaigns
  • Not-for-profit accountancy
  • Sales (particularly in feminine hygiene, washable nappies or women-centric products)
  • Subscription model businesses
  • Not-for-profit management/Strategy
  • International development 

The commitment will be a 2.5-hour Advisory board meeting once every 2 months and occasional assistance and communication by email for advice between meetings.

TACKLING PERIOD POVERTY WORKSHOP ASSISTANT - Volunteer
REQUIRED

We are at a pivotal stage of our development and are looking to develop a strong impactful UK programme, Tackling Period Poverty. We are piloting an innovative project, working with homeless organisations, community groups and food banks to increase access to sanitary products, increase knowledge about menstrual sanitation, women’s health and empower homeless and low-income women. 

This project has a two-fold approach: we are providing training resources to homeless organisations about menstrual health and the challenges homeless women face, as well as running a series of empowering workshops for low-income women, in which they will receive reusable sanitary products alongside support on managing their menstruation. The focus of this role will be in supporting the delivery of these workshops.

This is an ideal role for someone who is passionate about women’s health, has strong communication and organisational skills and enthusiasm to work in the not-for-profit sector especially with homeless or low-income women.

REQUIRED

We have just launched our subscription box Monthly Hugs and are developing the enterprise side of the organisation whilst starting to have more impact with our pilot programmes working with women and young people living in poverty. Our goal is to be self-sufficient within 5 years, however we are currently dependent on grants and donations to support us as we grow. 

We are looking for support from a person keen to gain experience in the fundraising world, preferably who has some experience of grant bodies and what is available and how to approach donors.

PERIOD POVERTY PROGRAMME  – Sales and Marketing Internship
REQUIRED

University of Bristol Students and recent graduates ONLY.

We are at a pivotal stage of our development, starting to gain more traction and really grow as an organisation. Our Tackling Period Poverty Programme working with vulnerable women is starting to develop and we are just launching our education programme aimed at supporting young people who may be living in period poverty. As a social enterprise, we are all about doing business for good and trading to gain our income to support our projects, however there are a number of ways the business can make money through our programmes, whether that is selling our expertise, our workshops and training. 

We are looking for an intern to support us in the development of our Period Poverty Programmes, particularly around revenue generation. This will be a varied and exciting role with a lot of responsibility, working for a tiny start-up (we currently have 3 part-time staff members). This is not an internship that will involve making cups of tea! We’re looking for someone with passion around our causes, enthusiasm and creativity to help us progress towards being a self-sustaining enterprise.

COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER – SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR AND ANALYSER – Volunteer

We are at a pivotal stage of our development, starting to gain more traction and really grow as an organisation. We have a good following on social media and are really keen to build this into an even stronger community. We know that part of this is regular posts, creative content and actively pursuing the growth of our networks. We currently use Facebook, Twitter and most recently Instagram. We are looking for someone who can support us in scheduling our minimum number of posts which is one Facebook post per day, two tweets per day and one Instagram post/interaction per day. We want this content to be varied and planned out, we have developed a basic strategy but welcome experience and creativity on this.

EVENTS COORDINATOR – Volunteer
REQUIRED

We are at a pivotal stage of our development, starting to gain more traction and really grow as an organisation. We have hosted some really amazing events in the past 2.5 years and hope to step this up over the next twelve months. This is why we are looking for an events planner and coordinator who can help us develop a diary of events. The objective of events is to create awareness of the issues around menstruation, to have fun and raise funds for our projects. Our past events have included debates, film screenings, a period tea party, a comedy gala and an evening of drinks and music at our launch in June. 

We plan on hosting a minimum of four events per year. However, we also want to attend events where we may reach new supporters. Busy times of year for us in terms of events include International Women’s Day on 8th March and Menstrual Hygiene Day on 28th May. This year, we plan to have an intern to support us in managing these events. The coordinators key role is diary management, advance planning and budget management including developing relationships with key parties who may be able to support us with venues, raffle prizes, food or drinks.

PERIOD FRIENDLY SCHOOLS ASSISTANT – Volunteer
REQUIRED

We are at a pivotal stage of our development and are looking to develop a strong impactful ‘Period Friendly Schools’ programme. We are piloting an innovative project, working with all young people on better education around menstruation, but also with those from low economic backgrounds to support young people living in poverty to have better periods and increased knowledge on this taboo topic. 

This project will work with schools, youth groups and extracurricular clubs to help young people take action on creating a more ‘period-friendly world’ for themselves. The focus of this role will be on supporting the delivery of these workshops, the role out of our programme providing reusable sanitary products to young people in need, developing the resources and building relationships with schools and clubs.

This is an ideal role for someone who is passionate about young people, the environment, equal opportunities and education, who has strong communication and organisational skills and enthusiasm to work in the not-for-profit sector especially around poverty.

We are looking for someone based near Totnes, who can spend half a day a week at our home-office just outside Harbertonford supporting the director with the coordination of the online shop and other related administration tasks, to ensure an efficient, smooth-running business which is such an important element of a successful social enterprise. We want someone with energy, who is meticulous and enjoys organisation.
